Soon to be joining the list of banned books that are still 100% available will be the Bible according to Moms For Liberty Spokeswoman Jeanette Hirsch. "I don't remember who it was that actually sat down and read the darn thing but once we'd all been informed of how violent and raunchy the book was, we unanimously decided that this needed to added to the list along with the Harry Potter series, This Book Is Gay and The Catcher In The Rye.
MFL has come under fire in recent years for attempting to ban books from school libraries. "It started off as kind of a joke," said David Simpson, founder of The Book Institute. "A couple of bored moms got together and thought it would be funny to try and ban George Orwell's 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Honestly I think the power just went to their heads."
Every book added to the growing list comes under more and more fire as the number grows.
"We think its 4D chess and I don't trust them," said Sue James, a book advocate and founder of Pied Piper, a nonprofit that fights book banning. "Every time they ban one book, we add two more into school libraries that are even worse," she boasted.
The next congressional hearing for the 2025 list of banned books will be held in Washington D.C. in November.
