This week Fred Meyer Grocers, one of Alaska's largest grocery chains, announced they will be holding workshops on how to avoid eye contact with strangers in their parking lot.

"We get a lot of complaints from our customers about getting harassed walking in between their vehicle and our stores," said Andy Raymond, General Manager of the Midtown location. "We have been working closely with our Portland and Seattle markets to get this training put together as they have been dealing with this sort of issue for a decade now."

Andy went on to explain that the courses will be free to the public as long as you scan your Fred Meyer Rewards card and will be offering training on avoiding eye contact, role playing on how to firmly say "NO I DONT HAVE ANY CHANGE OR CIGARETTES" as well as how to locate the nearest light pole to climb if you feel threatened.

The sign-up form will be located at all participating stores on the community bulletin board back where the completely locked public restrooms are.
