Puffin Post has learned that the local ACLU offices in Anchorage had an apparent crazy person attempting to break in during normal "business" hours and APD refused to send out any officers because the alleged burglar wasn't pointing the gun at anyone and the individual making the 911 call had not tried to deescalate the situation.
"Our call center workers are trained to ask if the person on the phone has tried to deescalate the situation first and that apparently didn't happen," said APD spokeswoman Janine Jans. "Then we learned that although they were brandishing a firearm, which isn't illegal usually, they weren't even pointing the gun directly at anyone," she continued.
Thankfully, the crazy person got bored and decided to leave of their own accord. No one was hurt and no precious police resources were wasted.
